I live in south Melbourne and always walk past this cafe! New owner so I decided to try out their coffee and toasties! It was delicious! I have found my new coffee and food joint! You all need to check out this place !!
I have never paid much attention to D'Oro. Turns out I should have. What seemed like a run-of-the-mill food court type of cafe turns out to be keeping a big secret - they serve Malaysian food! Albeit it is just one type of dish that rotates every few days, it is nonetheless delicious home-cooked Malaysian food.
A nondescript sign on top of the display cabinets showcasing sandwiches and sweet treats is what you have to look out for. Today it is curry chicken and rice. I didn't think much about it until the friendly lady behind the counter said it was Malaysian curry, and that she, a Malaysian, cook the dish from scratch. Take my money, lady!
The curry sauce was amazing - a perfect balance of spices, and incredibly aromatic. Tender chicken pieces, soft potatoes and fragrant rice round up this beautiful dish. This is a great example of Malaysian home cooking.
The latte that I had certainly can't be compared to those from cafes, but it wasn't too shabby either. Same can be said for the carrot cake.
But I will definitely be back to sample more Malaysian dishes. Keep it coming!
Full disclaimer, I haven't tasted food or coffee here BUT I think it's well worth checking out and I will try them because of few things I saw today... The place was very well presented and everything looked yummy and spotless clean, it's a family operated business and the owner and family seemed very kind and friendly and it's located right in Front of Woolies exit/entrance.
